Re: Things that make me scream: RDF "QNames"
I don’t think it’s so much that RDF QNames are wrong (accepting that they can only abbreviate a subset of URIs), just that they’re different from XML QNames. What’s sad is that these two inconsistent but overlapping and confusing notations come from the same organization.
In some ways I prefer the RDF version. E.g., at least it gives a URI to the XML Schema notion of an integer; XML just has a vague notion of a URI/local name pair floating around in hyperspace without even an official notation to allow you to write it down.
It’s also worth pointing out that “core” RDF doesn’t get involved with QNames at all - they’re just something used in all but the most verbose serializations of RDF.
